Celebrating a decade of international collaborations!
The House of Songs 10 Year Anniversary
October and early November gave us many reasons to celebrate: not only did we host a number of incredible events, but we also kicked off our 10 year anniversary with a brand new website, logo and exciting new plans to reach new audiences and artists in 2020.
How quickly time flies. In 2009, House of Songs Founder Troy Campbell opened his Austin home to invite Danish musicians to Texas for creative retreats. Since our humble beginnings, we've since expanded to three national locations and worked with hundreds of artists from over 33 countries. We've been featured on PBS and made the cover of the Wall Street Journal.
While our international reach continues to grow, our local supporters in Austin, TX and Bentonville, AR are what keep our programs running; from our international artist-in-residency programs, to our annual Songwriter Summits, to our local co-writing initiatives.
October 2019 marked 10 years of creative, international collaboration and exchanges for The House of Songs. To commemorate, we'll be taking a look back at some of our most inspiring and influential moments.
#1 The Alchemists Castle
The House of Songs brought together 12 artists from six countries to live and collaborate together at the 16th century Alchemists Engelsholm Castle, Denmark. The group of artists performed the new work at Spot Festival; showcased in the documentary film All I Know (Director: Holly Bronko). Over 24 original songs were written and performed over the course of four days; resulting in several new albums and continuous friendships. Participating artists: Troy Campbell, Scrappy Jud Newscomb, Danny Malone, Matt The Electrician and Nathan Felix (Austin, TX), Anna Bell, Ida Wenoe Bach and Vibeke Falden (Denmark), Lara Runarsdottir and Johan Kristinsson (Iceland), Therese Aune (Norway), and Brandur Enni (Faroe Islands). 2010, Alchemist Castle, Engelsholm, Denmark
